Mission Statement

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) has been serving military veterans since its founding in 1946 with the mission of transitioning returning World War II service members into culinary careers. Today, the private, not-for-profit college is proud to continue that tradition, enrolling veteran students at its main campus in New York and branch campuses in California and Texas. With a shared commitment to mastery, discipline, and teamwork between the CIA and the armed services, veterans feel right at home here.

Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the CIA offers food- and hospitality-focused degree programs that include up to 1,300+ hours of hands-on learning in our professional kitchens, bakeshops, and award-winning public restaurants, as well as an internship at one of 2,000+ CIA-approved properties. Students can also customize their education to fit their career goals through academic concentrations and study abroad.
 
CIA graduates are uniquely prepared with the skills, knowledge, and professional connections they need to take on leadership roles in every segment of the industry, including restaurants, research, education, hospitality, food policy, beverages, and media. Our graduates benefit from membership in a powerful 50,000+ alumni network and lifelong career services from the college.
 
Veteran students at the CIA receive support and resources from application all the way to graduation. GI Bill benefits and the Yellow Ribbon program can cover up to 100% of CIA tuition. Students are encouraged to submit their Certificate of Eligibility to the college as early as possible in the admission process.
