Mission Statement

Pacific Northwest College of Art prepares students for a life of creative practice. As Oregon’s flagship college of art and design since 1909, PNCA has helped shape the Pacific Northwest’s visual arts landscape for more than a century. Located in the center of Portland’s creative corridor, the College’s new main campus flagship is located in a historic federal building that was completely renovated in 2015 with a contemporary, light-filled interior. Throwing our doors open to the greater community, PNCA’s home is a dynamic platform for creativity and entrepreneurship, reflecting the influential role of art and design in our 21st century economy – both in Portland and beyond.

PNCA offers undergraduate students the choice of 10 concentrations within four majors and the benefits of interdisciplinary collaborations throughout their fine art and design education. Multiple galleries and a nationally acclaimed museum of craft and design offer students a myriad of opportunities for showing their work. Farther afield, students take advantage of PNCA Global Studios in Europe, Asia, Latin America, or Africa and PNCA’s Bridge Lab Career Center help students prepare for life after college through workshops, internships, and career counseling.
